"The Power of Film to Inspire Action"

power of film

Following the October 2014 success of the 1st Awakened World International Film Festival we learned the power of film to inform and inspire, witnessing how audiences were moved in their whole being, and how this led to exciting dialogue and commitments to action. If this can happen in an audience of viewers who then "go home" to places around the nation, think of how a community viewing might bring people together with the opportunity to keep them connected for sustainable good.

We have selected two films from the Awakened World Film Festival, each to serve as a centerpiece for dialogue and workshops that inspire enlighten action. "Under the Same Sun" and "Admissions" both address the issues of the possibility of building peace in highly conflicted situations.

We are adding an additional film "#ChicagoGirl"a documentary which examines the power of media, how the Internet is influencing a revolution and why a camera can be more effective than an AK-47.
