Moving documentary of "South Africa's Search for Truth and Reconciliation",
Long Night’s Journey Into Day provides a dramatic inside look at one of the most innovative and ambitious attempts at dialog and healing in human history - South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.  The film documents South Africa’s quest for restorative justice as it follows four dramatically different cases that come before the commission over the course of two and a half years.  Long Night’s Journey Into Day is a thought-provoking portrait of a wounded society attempting to humanize itself by taking seriously the importance of heart and conscience.  It will inspire American viewers to re-examine our own approach to racism and social injustice.  Winner; Grand Jury Prize; 2000 Sundance Film Festival
Discussion following facilitated by former South Africa exchange student. $5 love offering. Light snacks provided. Contact:  Beverly Lyne.

In a moving musical tribute, the Gandhi & King Season for Non Violence will present the ceremony by having a processional of people carrying the flags of 192 different countries of the world, and stepping to a microphone, stating, “May peace prevail in (name of country). May peace prevail on Earth.”

At the end of the ceremony, the flags will be paraded from the Center for Conscious Living down Felt Street in Live Oak crossing over 17th Avenue to Shoreline Middle School to circle the track singing: "Yes, There Is Peace On Earth And Yes, It Begins With Me." The Live Oak Sheriff's force will divert traffic in honor of the flag parade.

“The World Peace Flag Ceremony is a global celebration of the oneness of humanity. The Ceremony invites people from every race, religion, and background to pray jointly for the peace of the lands and people of the world”, according to the Society’s Web site (http://www.worldpeace.org).
