Evening of Compassion:  A Benefit for Haiti
Friday, March 19th at 6 pm
Sanctuary of Unity Church of Olympia

This is a community gathering to raise awareness for developing nations through music, short stories, and a dinner of compassion.   Do you wonder what a Dinner of Compassion is?  It’s a typical meal of the developing world.  Participants will be asked to donate an amount equivalent to a meal at home or in a restaurant to go to Haitian Relief.  You may give to one or both of two selected funds:  Association of Unity Churches International Haiti Relief Fund OR Doctors Without Borders.

Program: Be touched, moved and inspired through stories and music emceed by Rev. Deborah Olive, Unity Church of Olympia’s Minister and Co-Chair of AUC-I’s Spiritual Social Action Ministry Team, emcees this moving program.  Josh Anderson performs and directs inspired music selections performed by himself, our Ensemble and 5th SunDdaze.. 

Behind the Scenes:  A swell of leaders emerged and are co-creating this event.  We honor Karin Ward, who leads our Youth Ministry.  She offered the original idea for a Dinner of Compassion and leads our youth involvement in this Intergenerational event.    Wendy Clark and Naomi Beresel, Food from Menu to Service; Michael Petty and our OU Men, Set-Up and Clean-Up; Mariaah Laamb and Gayle __________, Decorations;  Jean Garwood and Trish Rosium, Publicity and Greeters and Jean Holbrook, Printing and Administration. 

What can you do?  RSVP is required, so sign-up at the table in the lobby or call the office at 360.943.5757.  Pick up the beautiful postcards created by Trish and use them to invite your friends.  Check the open locations for posting a flyer and help “paper the town!”  Watch for ads in the Olympian and on the community channel. Post a flyer in your work place.  Tell your friends and listen to our announcement on KGY 1240 AM Radio, the voice of Olympia, to air on Tuesday, March 16th at 8:15 am.
